Allen Andersson, Founder
Allen Andersson is Chairman and Founder of Paperboy Ventures, LLC and a member of the Investment Committee. He began his business career at age ten as a newspaper carrier for the Cape Cod Standard-Times. Six years later, he became the owner-manager of a drive-in ice cream shop, whose profits paid college expenses for a family of five children.

After studying mathematics at M.I.T., he joined the Peace Corps and taught mathematics at the National University of Honduras before taking up software engineering, developing applications in high-energy physics, medical imagery, typography, linguistics, and telecommunications. His entrepreneurial enterprises include Interleaf (1981), developer of an early document processing system, Expert Image Systems (1986), a radiological research laboratory and LightSpeed International (1995), developer of voice-over-Internet software.

Allen serves on the Board of Directors of Corcept Therapeutics. He is also President of The Riecken Foundation, which creates public libraries and promotes educational and economic progress in Central America.

Anthony C. Garland, Managing Director
Anthony C. Garland is a Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of Paperboy Ventures, LLC and a member of the Investment Committee. As a co-founder, Tony has helped Paperboy establish itself since its inception in 2003.

Tony has held executive positions in research and development, sales and marketing, and finance throughout his career. Prior to joining Paperboy, Tony was a senior vice president at Lehman Brothers. Before Lehman Brothers, he was a senior vice president at Hambrecht & Quist/JP Morgan. Before his time at H&Q, he spent 12 years in sales and marketing roles in the specialty chemicals division of J.T. Baker Inc., a Procter & Gamble subsidiary, and also at VWR Scientific. During that time, key clients included Amgen and CalTech. He began his career conducting research and development in the clinical chemistry division of SmithKline Beckman.

Tony is currently a Director for mNemoscience, Rincon Pharmaceuticals, the Chairman for Green Earth Industries, and outside of Paperboy, he is a Director for Studio 4 Networks.

Alicia A. Meros, Senior Intellectual Property Counsel
Alicia A. Meros is Senior Intellectual Property Counsel at Paperboy Ventures, LLC. Prior to joining Paperboy, she practiced exclusively in the field of Intellectual Property law at Swidler Berlin LLP (Bingham McCutchen LLP). She focused on litigating complex patent cases at both the trial and appellate levels, negotiating commercial licenses and counseling clients.

Alicia received a BE in Electrical Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a JD from George Washington University Law School.

Jaime J. Lewis, Principal
Jaime J. Lewis is a Principal at Paperboy Ventures, LLC and a member of the Investment Committee. Prior to joining Paperboy, he spent several years at JP Morgan Capital (now JPMorgan Partners) followed by a position with Deutsche Bank Venture Capital Partners (now ABS Ventures). During his tenure at both funds, he focused primarily on applied technology and biotech startups. Jaime began his career in investment banking at JP Morgan & Co. working with private equity clients as part of the firm's Financial Sponsors Group. Throughout his career, he has served as a board member for various venture-backed companies.

Jaime is currently a Director for Rincon Pharmaceuticals, EnerTech Environmental, and Aporo Biomedical. He received a BA in Economics from Colgate University and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management. In addition, he is actively involved with OneBrick, a national volunteer organization for young professionals.

Kay L. Parry, Principal
Kay L. Parry is a Principal at Paperboy Ventures, LLC. Prior to joining Paperboy, Kay worked at WaveCrest Laboratories, a Paperboy portfolio company, where she was Vice President, Corporate Development. Before that, she was a Vice President at Velocita Corp., a telecommunications start-up in the Washington, DC area. Kay began her career at management and strategy consulting firm Dean & Company, working with a variety of clients on a wide range of strategic and operational issues.

Kay received a BA in Government and Economics cum laude from Dartmouth College. She is currently a Director for mNemoscience and Green Earth Industries.

Shane L Bateman, Controller
Shane L Bateman is the Controller of Paperboy Ventures, LLC. Prior to joining Paperboy, he spent eight years at the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), serving as the Chief Accountant and Information Technology Coordinator. He spent the first five years of his career at KPMG, providing audit and consulting services to insurance, mortgage banking, and other financial sector institutions.

Shane is a CPA and spent the first five years of his career at KPMG providing audit and consulting services to insurance, mortgage banking and other financial institution sectors. Following KPMG he spent eight years at the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) serving as the Chief Accountant and Information Technology Coordinator.

Shane received a BSBA from the University of Nebraska in Accounting.

J.B. Skelton, Director of International Operations
J.B. Skelton manages the Office of Paperboy’s Chairman. Prior to joining Paperboy, J.B. managed the Dupont Circle location of Best Cellars, a venture-backed chain of wine stores. He began his career working with private equity clients as part of the Venture Services Group at Hambrecht & Quist. Subsequently, he moved to H&Q's Equity Capital Markets team to help market and execute new issue equity transactions.

J.B. received a BA in Economics from Boston College.

B.J. Bormann
BJ advises Paperboy Ventures’ portfolio companies in the life-sciences industry. BJ recently re-joined Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals as a senior vice president for Business Development and Licensing. Previously, she worked for 11 years in Pfizer’s Strategic Alliances group as a vice president in Pfizer’s global R&D organization.

At Pfizer, BJ was responsible for the global strategic and tactical execution of technology, academic and biotech collaborations and early candidate licensing deals. She was a member of Pfizer’s global R&D senior leadership team and a director on the Board of The Pfizer Incubator. While at Pfizer, BJ also led several strategic teams to design and implement business plans for biologicals, diagnostics and Asian outreach.

Dr. Bormann first joined Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals as a principal scientist in Immunology. Upon receiving her Ph.D., BJ worked in the Department of Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine as a research affiliate. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry from Fairfield University and her Ph.D. in biomedical science from the University of Connecticut Health Center in the Department of Pathology.

John Buckley
John recently joined Paperboy Ventures as an advisor to its portfolio companies in the technology, science and renewable energy industries. He departed PA Consulting Group UK after over 20 years of service. In PA, a leading Management Systems and Technology consulting firm he undertook a number of roles and responsibilities including Member of the main Board of PA, Chairman of the Partner Election Committee, Member of the Investment Committee, Head of the Technology Group, Head of PA Ventures and Chairman of PA Strategy Partners (the latter regulated by the Financial Services Authority).

He has served on the Boards of, and been Chairman of the Compensation Committees for, several major PA Ventures and investment programs including: Meridica (acquired by Pfizer in 2004,) UbiNetics (acquired by Cambridge Silicon Radio and Aeroflex in 2005), Predix/Physiome (now Epix Pharmaceuticals,) Aegate and Cubiks.

John started his career as an apprentice in British Telecom (BT) eventually being promoted to Group Head in the Network Strategy Department. He joined PA in the Telecommunications Practice as a Consultant in the 1980’s. In his consulting career he has undertaken assignments in a number of sectors including Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals, Energy, Oil and Gas, Defense and Government. He has project directed the implementation of several major management, IT and change programs for many major organizations including British Telecom (BT), Deutsche Telekom, PTT Netherlands, Pfizer, GSK , Shell, Firestone and Nokia.

John has spoken at and/or chaired several technology conferences and is the author of the book “Going for Growth – Realizing the Value of Technology”.

Dick Locke
Dick Locke is an advisor to several Paperboy Ventures portfolio companies and played a key role in financings for Enertech Environmental. Dick brings a wealth of experience to Paperboy from his long career on Wall Street. Most recently, he served as an SVP in the Private Client Group at JP Morgan H&Q (formerly: Hambrecht & Quist) in San Francisco. Prior to joining H&Q, he was a Senior EVP at E.F. Hutton & Co. (acquired by Lehman Brothers) where he served as a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. He was also EVP, marketing and underwriting, at Capital Guaranty Insurance Company and served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for Blyth Eastman Dillon & Co.

Dick has taken an active role in his many civic activities. He served as President of the San Francisco Parks Trust, was a member of the Advisory Board for the Museum of American Folk Art in New York, was on the Board of Directors of the Council on Municipal Performance in New York, and served on his local District Council for the Boy Scouts of America. Dick lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
